The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) was incorporated as a non-profit and non-government organization on 1st April 2002. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Singapore and its Council Members and Trustees are leaders of industries from the private business sectors.

In 1998, then Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong urged the Singapore Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (SFCCI) to restructure to better represent Singapore’s business interests at home and abroad, as a “definitive response to the new realities in the business environment around us”.
This led to the formation of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in 2002. Its objectives:

  • To enhance the organisation of the business community in Singapore.
  • To represent, advance, promote and protect, in Singapore and abroad, the major business interests of business entities carrying on commerce and industry in Singapore.

Ten years later, the Federation is now recognised both locally and internationally as Singapore’s apex business chamber, leading some 20 out-going business missions and receiving over 60 in-coming delegations each year. Last year, it organised over 420 events catering to more than 60,000 participants. We are also increasingly engaged in business voice representation and advocacy, on both Singapore and overseas platforms.
In 2012, SBF marks its 10th anniversary. We have achieved much since inception, thanks to our 18,400 members, the wider business community, our local and overseas trade associations and chambers, and government agencies. Their combined presence and support has spurred our organic growth, and we hope to continue with these good relationships in creating winning benefits and sustainable economic growth for our countries and businesses.
